Fifty Shades of Grey, captivating or over the top?

Fifty Shades

Fifty Shades

Has anyone else out there fallen into a trance over these books? I heard about them from friends, family and even a playgroup mom and figured I had to check them out and see what all the fuss was about. Boy oh boy I understand now!

In general, I usually do not read books that are so wickedly dark or explicit but Fifty Shades of Grey is not only that but also, captivating. Although I have not yet formed a conclusion about the books, I have been finding it hard to put them down because they are so suspenseful.

Currently, I am on book two and find it better than the first one. I enjoy that it delves deeper into the relationship of the main characters and adds a depth to the plot. I was wondering if anyone else out there had become involved with these books? They are hard to turn away from, or is that just the irony of Anastasia and Mr. Grey?

  1. This seems like an awesome series – I usually find it hard to read books like this, i don’t why and i really do beat myself up about it but i just get really bored – but i’ll still try them : )
    Great post!!!

  2. Confession: Yesterday at Costco I saw the books for sale and finally gave in to temptation (I just bought the 1st one). As I was checking out, the male cashier was commenting on how this book was “flying off the shelves.” The woman loading my groceries into the cart asked if I would like her to get me some wine and a carton of cigarettes. She said, “I’ve read these books. Those items are the suggested companion purchase when you buy this trilogy.” We were all laughing. I haven’t started it yet but I guess I’m prepared to dive in and find out what the hype is all about!
